WINTER & SPRING PROGRAMS

THE CLINTON RECREATION & PARKS DEPARTMENT
MARTIAL ARTS:
Martial Art Classes are available through Madison Academy
located at 32 Wall Street, Madison, CT. Two sessions will be
offered. Classes will meet twice a week for eight weeks. Various
days and times are available. Classes available are Taekwondo
(ages 6 to adult), Young Dragons (ages 3 to 5) and
Cardio-Kickboxing (ages 10 to adult). The fee is $50 per
session. Uniforms are required for all Taekwondo classes and can
be purchased at Madison Academy. Personal Training is also
available for $45 per hour for three, one-hour sessions. Martial
Arts Classes are held throughout the school year.
Session III: January 7th,
2008 – February 29th, 2008.
YOGA: Yoga Classes are
available through Madison Academy located at 32 Wall Street,
Madison, CT. Come join Amy Pollio with 13 years experience in
Group Fitness Classes for people over 14 years old by taking a
60 minute YOGA class to work out your entire body. Burn
calories, gain strength and flexibility while increasing your
energy level and reducing stress. Classes will meet on
Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and
Sundays 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. This is an on going
class for all levels. Fee: $85.00 (for 10 Classes), $10.00
Payable: To Clinton Recreation and Parks Department, $75.00
Payable: To Madison Academy of Martial Arts (At the time of your
first class!) Babysitting service is available on Thursdays.

PILATES: Pilates Classes are
available through Madison Academy located at 32 Wall Street,
Madison, CT. Come join Instructor Michele McCarthy. She has been
teaching group classes for over 18 years. Michele is highly
qualified in teaching beginners through advanced students.
Join her 1 hour
classes held every (Mon., Tues.,
Wed., Thurs., and Sat. at 9:30 a.m). This is an
ongoing class and geared to all levels. Fee: $85.00 (for 10
Classes), $10.00 Payable: To Clinton Recreation and Parks
Department, $75.00 Payable: To Madison Academy of Martial Arts
(At the time of your first class!) Babysitting service is
available on weekdays. PLEASE bring your own mat!
TODDLERS ARE
TERRIFIC: Toddlers are Terrific Emphasizes
different areas of your child’s development! This program gives
the opportunity of interactions among parents and young children
in a playgroup setting. The children will have plenty of group
activities such as: Practice on social skills, Cooperation,
Sharing and Taking turns, Visual and Auditory Stimulation, Music
and Art, as well as Physical movement. Each session will be lead
by Lisa Harden, program director, M.S. Education. Each class
will meet at the Grace Church, Main St., Old Saybrook, CT.,
from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The classes are open to children ages 20 months to 3 years old.
The maximum class size will be 10 children and minimum number in
class will be 6 children. The fee is $150 for residents
and $155 for non-residents, for each (12 week) session.
Session III: Will begin on
Wednesdays, January 16th – Apr. 9th, 2008.
If you are interested for Monday classes they will re-open if
enough children. Please see our website for more information.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
CLINIC:
For 6th, 7th, 8th grade
girls. Children will learn the rules and skills required
playing volleyball. The instructor is Joe Grippo. The clinic
will be held at the Morgan gym in
March 2008. See home page for more info.
ADULT CO-ED
VOLLEYBALL: (Adults Only) Its open gym! Have
some fun and join us for a friendly game of volleyball! The
games will be played on Monday
evenings from 7:30-9:30
pm at the following locations. October through
February and May at the Eliot Gym and March and April at the
Morgan Gym.
MEN’S BASKETBALL:
(Adults only) Its open gym! Stop in for a quick pick-up game of
basketball. The games will be played from
7:30-9:30 pm. The following
schedule shows all the details:

DEP SAFE BOATING
CLASSES: (Adults and children over 10) This is a
10 hour course that meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from
7:00-9:30 pm for two
weeks. The last class will give a final exam. A passing grade
will enable you to apply for your Safe Boating certificate. The
classes will be held at the Morgan School (room 10), located at
27 Killingworth Turnpike (route 81), Clinton, CT 06413. The
minimum class size is 20 and the maximum size is 30. There will
be two sessions available: Session
I: April 1, 3, 8, 10 Session II: May 6, 8, 13, 15.
The fee is $10 per person.
YOUTH WRESTLING:
Morgan Gym B at 6:30 – 8:00
p.m. Open Mat for Eliot and Morgan students. Tuesday
and Thursday: December 4, 2007 to February 28, 2008.
Thursdays: March 6 to May 29, 2008.
PERFORMING ARTS
PROGRAM: Classes are held at the P & R Building, Dates:
February 11 to March 31, 2008
(Excluding 2/18/08) and Times:
K-2nd Grade: 4:15 – 5:00
p.m., 3 – 6th Grade: 5:05 – 6:00 p.m.
Don’t miss out on this energetic, exciting class that teaches
theater games, concentration exercises, voice and speech
improvisational exercises, acting terminology, sense memory,
subtext, stage skills and script work. These classes will also
be challenging and offer new and exciting activities for the
more experienced participant as well. (All materials will be
provided and included in program price) Fee is $90 and $95 for

DRAWING CLASSES:
Tuesdays, January 8 – February
12, 2008 (6 Weeks)Held at Indian River, P & R
Building, 201 Killingworth Turnpike. Drawing classes will cover
the following; Still Life, Landscape, figures and Art History.
Supplies that are needed for this class: Charcoal (Soft or Extra
soft vine charcoal), Paper (not newspaper, White drawing paper &
big drawing pad, and a Magic Rub Eraser.
Grades 4-8, Time:
4:30-5:30 p.m. and
Adults 6:00-8:00 p.m. Fee:
Children $125 & Adults $305. Class Minimum is 5 and Maximum is
20.
FIELD HOCKEY CLINIC:
Wednesdays, April 30th
– May 29th. For Grade 4th & 5th
Girls. Time: 2:45 to 4:30 pm
at the Pierson School Field. Field Hockey sticks, goggles, and
mouth guards will be provided, but the girls will need to bring
their own shin guards and sneakers. Instructors: Patty
Esposito, Sue Mugavero & Emma Rufleth.
Fee is
$35.00.
